If you get it, then you get it

Qeturah (Keh-to-rruh) Edeli (Eh-de-lee) is a terribly serious and incorrigible recluse. She lived in Europe before she came to North America, but has never lived somewhere people can pronounce her name properly. She enjoys fencing and caffeine. If pressed, she would describe herself as 'queer as a clockwork orange'. Her family is pleased she is putting her classical Swiss education to good use with her naughty novels.

    The Highwayman Came Riding

    Novel: Loose Id

Sassy Elias Burgess is the darling of Kitwick, a humdrum Georgian era village. Bored with his pedestrian life as the innkeeper’s son and village post boy, Elias dreams of escaping to London, the city where dreams come true. Only Elias’s bohemian twin sister, Bess, can match his acerbic wit and keep him sane. Together, they bewitch Kitwick with their beauty and intrigue, though no one, not even their father, understands them.

When he is stripped of his parcels (and clothes) by a smooth-talking highwayman, Elias is forced to walk home naked. Never one to let another man have the last word, Elias recruits the velvet-voiced redcoat, Mr. Sweeton, to help save his job by tracking down the missing post. However, the chivalrous Mr. Sweeton might have motivations for helping other than a desire to maintain order and uphold the law, and the highwayman might not be the villain he seems…

    Pirate's Spoils

    Teaser: Loose Id

Domingo is a notorious pirate wanted for a list of crimes longer than he is tall. He still has not solved how he managed to secure Lieutenant James Richardson Flint of His Majesty's Royal Navy as his beau, given they tried to kill one another at first sight years ago. A chance rendezvous in Nassau prompts Domingo and James to embrace the summer heat with nothing but two stolen candles and Domingo's authoritative instincts to create a toe-curling encounter centered on dominance and submission. Though he wields considerable power in his day-to-day life, James is happy to forfeit control and make the most of his shore leave with the only man to ever bring him to his knees.

Heartwood I: Prick of the Thistle

    Novel: Loose Id

Despite Lord Duncan Friseal's surly disposition, William finds the heir to the wealthy highland thanedom of Faoltaigh irresistible. After Lord Friseal saves William from a fate worse than death, William aches to discover what lies beneath Lord Friseal's great kilt. Lord Friseal appears ignorant of William’s affections, but no matter; William has dealt with his fair share of capricious men and it will be only a matter of time before Lord Friseal succumbs and gives William what he craves.

Lord Friseal realizes too late how dangerously attracted to William he is. He cannot resist the temptation of a man who knows exactly what he wants and where he wants it. Constrained by his station, clan, and religion, Lord Friseal must decide if his passion for a sensuous but traumatized Englishman is worth risking his family’s future and the fate of his immortal soul. Circumstances continue to thwart his swelling sentimentality as William proves to be emotionally distant for all his sexual appetite, and Lord Friseal’s intrusive houseguest, Lady Moira MacKenzie, draws ever closer to the truth.

  • Slush Pile Thoughts

    Unsolicited ramblings

    Blessed Samhain

    31.10.2020

I've deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts as I don't use these platforms and I'm going through a döstädning phase. My author Instagram account (@qeturahedeli) still exists, although I don't think I've logged on in over two years! Here's to living in the moment: l'chaim.

Wherever you are, I do hope you're doing your best to stay safe and protect others during these dreadful times. I've read more than I've written during these months of plague, but it means my mind is ripe with ideas... Timelines are even more difficult to predict than usual, but rest assured, I am working hard to free my murderous mobsters, virile Vikings, sweet scientists, and pugnacious pirates.

    Love to you all ♡

    Still Here

    15.05.2019

But I’ve moved yet again, although that’s neither here nor there.

It’s May 2019 and I can’t believe it’s been two years since I last published!! I’ve been horrifically unproductive, creatively speaking, but it’s not for lack of ideas.

Instead of publishing, here are some highlights of 2018:

    • Meeting running goals
    • Completing a short film
    • The Orenburg Oblast Ministry of Health following my author’s account on Twitter (??)
    • Travelling 32,000 km
    • Reading way more fiction than intended
    • Staying up 72 h straight (not by choice), passing out in a metro far from home, & surviving
    • Making progress on all my smutty WIPs—& finishing none ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    • Adopting
    • Organizing all my books by colour (#gay)
    • Finding more good music
    • Wearing earphones less often
    • Taking shorter showers
    • Actually reading the mail
    • Studying an ancient codex (#callmeIndiana)
    • Brushing up on my Scandi tongues
    • Inheriting a hoard of succulents
    • Downsizing (again!)

The Vikings ménage, competitive pastry chefs, mafia lesbians, and interwar years scientist sweethearts are on the docket for sometime this decade, I do hope... Stay tuned!!

    August, Already?

    08.08.2018

Oh my, it has been a while, hasn’t it? Life has been busy for the past seven months. I moved three times, travelled excessively, spoke more Serbian than anyone expected, founded my own company, burnt the candle at both ends more than could possibly be good for my brain, turned down my third marriage proposal, completed two more publications under an alias, and survived an untold number of weeks (months?) without Internet.

I’ve two new flatmates and it’s a trilingual situation, which poses challenges to writing in English (what do you mean there are only three cases?). Comme d’habitude, I have many ideas and not enough time to transfer them from fingertips to something tangible. I think if you summed the word counts of every piece of fiction I’ve written in the past three years (including published words and fan fiction (^_<)〜☆), I’d put the redoubtable Ayn Rand to shame (in quantity, not quality). Here’s a peek at my works in progress, coming sometime in the next decade (TBA):

    • Pansexual pirates during the Age of Sail (MM; interracial; 78,027 words)
    • Vikings ménage (MMW; interfaith; 67,627 words)
    • Interwar years scientist sweethearts feat. cantankerous asexual protagonist (MM; 54,248 words)
    • Best friend’s punk rock younger brother affair, it might be the 90s (MM; interracial; interfaith; 17,685 words)
    • Soviet dancer + Chinese soldier during the Cold War and one of them is straight (MM; interracial; 16,082 words)
    • Bitchy Victorian bisexuals who find themselves in a murder mystery and in love (MM; interracial; interfaith; 6,206)
    • Syrupy sweet contemporary Canadiana short story commission feat. trans love interest (MFtM; interracial; 4,708)
    • Lifelong friends who are forced to adopt together and then fall in love, labels are for soup cans in present-day Sweden (MM; 1,843)
    • Polyamorous woodsy witches in the Deep South feat. non binary love interest (WWNB; interracial; interfaith; 107 words)

The mafia lesbians manuscript is under review at the moment (in addition to a fluffy MM competitive pastry chefs in love short story), wish me luck!

My works previously published with Loose Id can now be purchased on Amazon. Pirate’s Spoils is no longer free as that is not an option through Kindle Direct Publishing. A reminder that it is a short story, though it is priced the same as the novels!! If you want to read it for free, please contact me at q.edeli@outlook.com. The first three people to request a copy will receive one!

    Until next time! ♡

    2017 in Review

    06.01.2018

    Happy New Year!

I’m sure many of us are glad to bid 2017 adieu. It has gone down in history for me as The Year of the First White Hair, to give you an idea of my experiences. (I ripped that sucker out and it had the perspicacity not to grow back.) To do 2017 justice, it was a year of ups and downs all around, and today I would like to focus on the positive experiences I’ve had and the accomplishments I’ve made. So, to start the New Year off well, I happily reflect that this past year, I:

    • Became a real morning person (oh, adulthood)
    • Published 2 full-length erotic romance novels, 1 erotic short story, and 1 non-erotic short story
    • Wrote my first WW manuscript for NaNoWriMo and loved every minute of it (#mafialesbians)
    • Flew tens of thousands of kilometres
    • Survived the sort of air turbulence where 60% of the plane is vomiting (#naptime)
    • Learnt how to make parchment like it’s 1499
    • Folded 1,000 paper cranes
    • Memorized all the lyrics to 'Подмосковные Вечера', which means I’m now extra fun at parties
    • Became all about those measurable goals
    • Sorted the rainy-day money jar and found: Norwegian kroner, Rwandan francs, Swiss francs, French francs (??), euro, Northern Irish pounds, English pounds, US dollars, Canadian dollars, South Korean won, Cuban convertible pesos, and Russian rubles (net worth?)
    • Downsized and made goals for further downsizing (#minimalism)
    • Avoided sutures with tape and fortitude (do not recommend—consult a doctor)
    • After many an awkward face day, developed a pretty good skincare routine
    • Got that naughty piercing I’d wanted for years that definitely doesn’t match my day life but is absolutely fitting for a nighttime erotica author
    • Evaluated personal waste production and developed my practice of the 5 Rs (refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and rot)
    • Finally learnt how to pronounce the word ‘commute’ (English syllabic stressing stresses me out)
    • Found the best plant-based ramen in the West
    • Had a glorious, totally natural, uninterrupted sleep of 18 hours
    • Didn’t kill the orchids this time
    • Faced my fears

    Goals for 2018:

    • Sign a contract for the mafia lesbians manuscript
    • Find more good music
    • Finish editing the Vikings ménage manuscript
    • Finish editing the pansexual pirate manuscript
    • Finish the interwar years scientist sweethearts manuscript
    • Wear earphones less often
    • Take shorter showers
    • Actually read the mail
    • Reduce procrastination
    • Re-establish juggling prowess
    • Swear less (my characters probably won’t)

What are you proud of accomplishing in 2017? What are your goals for 2018? May you realise the worthy ones!

    NaNoWriMo Results + ch-ch-changes

    03.12.2017

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) was a hectic thirty days, but I succeeded in my goal of contributing more than 50,000 words to my 1970s mafia lesbians tale and, ultimately, finishing the novel by the end of November 2017 at 86,161 words! Throughout the writing journey, I travelled some 7,000 km, saw new sights, reached new heights, read more classic Russian literature than I thought humanly possible, and continued refining the art of minimalist suitcase packing.

On December 1st, I found out my publisher, Loose Id, is closing. Of course this is very saddening, as I have truly enjoyed my time with Loose Id and meeting the delightful and talented people who help transform manuscripts to marketable novels. I learnt a great deal from the relationships I developed there and hope many of them will survive the closing of Loose Id. So, thank you, Loose Id, for a wonderful first experience with e-publishing! ♡ Now, if anyone has suggestions of where to turn with a lengthy w/w black comedy erotic romance featuring an unhealthy dose of violence and revenge, please let me know (q.edeli@outlook.com)…

I’ll be hopping on a plane again soon after a short respite so it may be another 8 months before my next blog post. I tend to keep my other social media more up-to-date, especially Twitterand Instagram, so if you would like updates, please take a gander there! And do make sure to keep an eye out for a December giveaway of my most popular MM novel, The Highwayman Came Riding, on the lovely Lex Valentine’s blog. She’s hosting giveaways all month long!

I've also just learnt my MM BDSM teaser, Pirate's Spoils, will be available FOR FREE come this July! I won't give too much away as it's short and sweet, but it's ~literally~ the hottest bit of smut I've written to date and introduces you to my first true Bad Boy character. Like tattoos? The golden age of piracy? Interracial couples? Check back for more updates soon!

My Sexy Saturday’s lucky 7s blog hop

    20.04.2017 p.m. (It was a busy day I guess)

The following seven paragraphs are a teaser from 16th century Scottish erotic romance novel, Heartwood II: Sword Dance, and are part of My Sexy Saturday's blog hop. Sword Dance is coming out 25.04.2017 with Loose Id!:

William was seated before the crackling fire in his bedchamber, grateful he was not out in the raging storm. He supposed Lord Friseal was, and he regretted him his wet fate. William sighed, turning the page on his simple book, wondering if he would ever grasp all the intricacies of the written word. It would not be so awful, he thought, if spellings were consistent, as then he could just memorize the order of letters in the words. As it was, orthography was variable, and this led to much confusion. He rubbed his tired eyes and jumped when a heavy knocking interrupted his studying session.

“Enter,” he said, closing his book and looking to the door. Lord Friseal threw open the door, which banged against the wall behind it and bounced shut. He was, William saw, soaked to the skin, his shirt rendered transparent by rainwater, his hair curlier than ever. He clutched a bouquet of wildflowers in his fist. “My lord?” William whispered, breathless. His heart fluttered in a familiar way. It had become lively as a butterfly for several months now whenever he saw Lord Friseal.

“I found these,” Lord Friseal said, dripping water onto the floor as he raised the wildflowers, “and thought of you.”

William stared at Lord Friseal, then at the flowers. They appeared to be lupines of a range of colors: pale pink, lavender, mauve, magenta, blue, and periwinkle. William opened his mouth but found he had no words. Instead of speaking, he rose and crossed the room to stand before Lord Friseal, who still held the bouquet like an offering. William accepted it, and the flowers were cool and wet against his fingers. Rainwater leaked down his wrists and into his sleeves.

“Thank you, my lord,” he whispered, gazing up at Lord Friseal. “They’re lovely.”

“As are you,” Lord Friseal burred, water droplets dripping from his beard and onto the front of his already soaked shirt.

    “Thank you.”

William could see Lord Friseal’s lips behind his ginger beard, and they were parted, as though he was about to say more. He did not get the opportunity, for William stood on his toes and kissed them.

Summer update + authorship growing pains

    20.04.2017 a.m.

I have three new works coming out between now and summer 2017!:

    1. Heartwood 2: Sword Dance (MM 16th century erotic romance novel, release date: 25.04.2017)
    2. The Highwayman Came Riding (MM 18th century erotic romance novel, release date: 06.06.2017)
    3. Pirate's Spoils (MM and ménage BDSM teaser, release date: TBA)

It's become apparent to me now I really must delve into the virtual maze of social media to help promote my writing. I've had Instagram, Twitter, and Goodreads for a while now (though historically used them sparingly), and I just got a Facebook account and page yesterday! Still working on the most efficient way of linking all these...

Blog tours (i.e. virtual book tours) are the next enigma I need to decode. I love the idea, but the organization requires more networking than I currently know how to do. It doesn't help that I'm quite introverted! If I ever figure this out, I'll probably post a tutorial for all the other shy n00bs like me.

Can't wait to share my new stories and characters with you all!

    First edits complete

    16.02.2017

A new year must have new books! Heartwood II: Sword Dance will be coming out this April! (◕‿◕) It's been a long time (almost 3 years!!) since I first penned the Heartwood series, and I'm pleased to see how much my style has developed since I began.

My Georgian Era bit of (s)ass has also been accepted for publication! I'm super excited about this one as I had heaps of fun writing it in late 2016 and it was very well received by my publisher. Redcoats, highwaymen, and cats, oh my!

    What next?

    22.12.2016

The encore to PotT, Heartwood II: Sword Dance, has just been approved! More Scottish moors, dark secrets, and MM relationship development are coming... Edits await, but I'm excited to say SD should be on digital shelves in 2017! (*^‿^*)

I've another project (think Pride and Prejudice but sassier) in the wings—check back soon!

Prick of the Thistle is out!

This queer brainchild of mine can be yours! On sale through Loose Id at: http://bit.ly/2fiDa3J. Also available through iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com.

    Progress report 2

    05.11.2016

Loving the cover art by the wonderful Valerie Tibbs for PotT! What a talented team Loose Id has. So excited for the big reveal in only 3 days!! ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶ And there's already a sequel on the way...

    Progress report

    15.07.2016

The first round of edits are complete and PotT is gliding on in the publication process! It's out of my hands now and with my very capable editor. This is my first stab at novel authorship, and the experience has been grand thus far. We now have a release date: 8 November 2016. I can't wait!

    Introduction
